Commission Artwork Policy

Thank you for your interest in commissioning a custom mosaic artwork. This policy outlines the terms and conditions for all commissioned pieces to ensure a smooth and satisfactory experience for both parties.

Initial Consultation

  • All commissions begin with a detailed consultation to discuss your vision, size, materials, timeline, and budget.  The commission includes up to 2 rounds of revisions (see below).

  • I will provide a written estimate including materials, labor, and timeline. 

  • No work begins until a signed agreement and deposit are received.

Design Approval:

  • I will provide an initial sketch of the proposed design for discussion.  If needed, as part of the fee additional sketches will be provided as follows:

    • 1st revision: After the initial concept sketch to make modifications (e.g., background, etc.).

    • 2nd revision: Address minor changes (e.g.,  color changes, etc.). 

  • The final design must be approved in writing (email is acceptable) before the work begins.

  • Minor artistic adjustments may occur during fabrication due to material behavior or availability, or technical constraints, while maintaining the agreed overall concept.

Pricing and Payment:

  • 50% Deposit required upon commission agreement

  • 25% Progress Payment (larger works):  Due at the midpoint of completion.  On small works, this step can be skipped and combined with the final payment as 50% due at the final payment.

  • 25% Final Payment due upon completion and before delivery/ pickup. 

  • Additional costs may apply:

    • Shipping and packaging fees (if applicable)

    • Rush orders (less than the standard timeline) incur a 25% surcharge.

Client Cancellation:

  • Cancellations possible up to 48 hours after the deposit with 10% service fee to cover design consultation. 

  • Once work begins, the deposit is non-refundable

  • In the event that a commissioned piece is canceled prior to completion, all rights to the unfinished or completed artwork revert to the artist. The client forfeits any claim to the artwork, and the artist retains full ownership, including the right to display, modify, repurpose, or sell the piece.

Artist Cancellation:

  • In rare cases where I cannot complete work due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be provided.

  • Maximum liability limited to amounts already paid.

Copyright and Usage Rights for Commissioned Work
Artistic Rights:
  • I retain copyright and artistic rights to all original designs

  • I may photograph completed work for portfolio, marketing, and promotional use

  • Reproduction rights require separate licensing agreement

Client Usage:

  • Commissioned artwork is for client's personal use unless otherwise specified

  • Client may not reproduce, copy, or create derivative works without permission

Care Instructions:

  • Detailed care instructions are provided with each completed piece

  • Indoor pieces are NEVER intended for outdoor use

  • Avoid harsh chemicals, pressure washing, or abrasive cleaning

Limitation of Liability:

  • My liability is limited to the total amount paid for the commission

  • I am not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

  • The client assumes responsibility for proper installation and care

  • Insurance coverage recommended for high-value pieces

Agreement Acceptance:

By proceeding with commission and providing deposit, client acknowledges reading, understanding, and agreeing to all terms in this policy. This policy may be updated periodically with changes applying to new commissions only.
