Day 51! Such a long day at work. Only time to put ideas together for the next 3”x3” mosaic with a wooden painted button, sea shells , and one of my favorite pieces of Wissmach stained glass (iridescent orange).

Half way through the 100 day project!! 3”x3” mosaic using hand painted tissue paper. I will probably add (gold or black beads or black glass to keep with my personal goal of being a mosaic). But I sort of like it as is. I am new to paper collage and am fascinated. I’m enjoying exploring. Yesterday I made a 6”x6” piece inspired by my heart houses. Maybe I’ll post that another day.

Half way through the 100 day project!! 3”x3” mosaic using hand painted tissue paper. I will probably add (gold or black beads or black glass to keep with my personal goal of being a mosaic). Busy day as I finished a few other “100 day” pieces / grouted an 8”x10” piece ready for a show (see additional photo) and started and finished a 6”x6” paper collage (no photo) that needs to meet a submission deadline of tomorrow! Both pieces need a little touch up but basically done.

3”x3” mosaic start. Needs to be completed. Learning the hard way with paper collage (base) gesso and clear gesso need 24 hours to cure. So will be doing a lot of catching up on Friday.

The start of a 3”x3” mosaic. It’s the end of the day and I need to gesso the wood sub straight (not tonight) then adhere this new hand painted paper. The clear gesso (needed to seal paper collage before I continue to “mosaic” ) did not arrive today! 🙁 so tomorrow is another day.

It is Unfinished as I have learned that I should not be using varnish to seal the collage part as it’s not compatible with the glue I use (Weldbond) that I need in order to continue to “mosaic” over the paper collage. So am waiting to get clear gesso on Tuesday.

Today I learned that I need to seal paper collage. So I am trying to find out if I can use Weldbond glue on top of varnish. We’ll see as I put finish /varnish on the recent background pieces I did this week.

New strategy (borrowed from other posts). Trying to work on multiple pieces at once throughout the (work) week but at various stages of completion. Tonight I used acrylic paint to lay down some base colors on 5 “blanks”. Next tissue paper collage in layers on the dark blue blank and now that needs to dry before adding more to it like stained glass or shells or…? Tomorrow 🤞

I wanted a vintage piece of jewelry as the centerpiece but in the end it was shells. My pieces so often end up so differently to my initial intention. Well that’s the creative process right?!

Unfinished 3”x3” mosaic. Acrylic soft green with gold finish. I spent much of the day finishing 5 pieces from this week. And I of course ran out of time to do today’s project. The palette is laid out though. But that could change in the morning too.

I am recently very much interested in mixed media collage and have been spending some time learning about some of the ways to work with paper and paint. My plan is to have it as a background. But who knows?!

The start of today’s 3”x3” mosaic of shells on an acrylic painted background. I am just back from Toronto and tired. I am undecided how to finish (tomorrow) and thought about adding some metal pieces from a vintage thrift store in Toronto “Courage My Love”. Will see what tomorrow brings.

3”x3”mosaic. Not finished as I’m traveling this week for work. In Toronto Canada! A first for the company I work for. I am continuing to experiment with paint and collage. So far this is acrylic paint with paper napkins and three circular beads ( the shell is just a placeholder as it’s all I had with me).
