Start of my new series “Fruits +Vegetables”. It’s the same subject but two different mediums!
This dual-medium study will include one as a traditional mosaic using stained glass and other tesserae. The other will be paper collage incorporating my hand painted papers.

I have modified this piece. Hopefully with more interesting paper creating more textures and depth. Still not sure but it’s time to move on to the next piece. (Apples or peaches?).

New Series: Duel work of Fruits/vegetables. There will be two “identical” works of the same subject. Each piece is 5”x7”. One-paper collage and one-mosaic.
First attempt: Lemon.
My thoughts are that the paper one needs help. I think I need more varied shapes and types of paper to make it more painterly. Back to the studio this afternoon to make more paper.

I finally completed finishes to about 24 of the hundred pieces of 100 days of art project. Along the way, I learned about paper collage, which I am loving! I am also learning about making hand painted papers. Attached is my first attempt which I did I think back in April. And I am now working on combining paper collage with more traditional mosaic work. I’ve made about four or five of my heart now integrating paper collage. Here’s several so far. They are each 6”x6”.

This art exhibit is a fund raising event for the Essex County Greenbelt Association. Please visit today and see some lovely artwork by many local artist. 100 Day Project follow up. These 2 images show just som of the 100 pieces. I have them stacked in layers due to lack of studio space.
I learned so much. Mostly To show up each to create anything! During the 100 days I learned some new techniques. Discovered that schedules matter. Learned to make more time for art. Tried new things new color palettes and allowed myself to explore. I think focusing on abstract helped.
Next step is to figure out framing and presenting some of these pieces. Also starting a mixed media journal.

3”x3” mosaic of scrap stained glass,shells, stone, and acrylic paint(some on the stained glass!).

I can’t believe 100 days have passed and there are 100 little pieces of art piled up in my studio (several that still need finishing).

I set a goal of only abstract images and scrap materials on 3”x3” wood substrates. During this time I learned to push harder to create a little each day. Along the way I tried and fell in love paper collage art. Trying to combine both paper collage and mosaics is my new and continuing challenge moving forward. I’m also excited to try an art journal maybe not daily but “most” days.

3”x3” hand painted paper background ready to finish with mosaics. No 99 is an inspired by No 98. I think my next series of art will be a similar process. I plan to start a series of fruits/veggies. Two pieces for each fruit/vegetable. One will be paper collage and one will be mosaic. I’m thinking 5” x 7”. We’ll see. One more day to go for all of us artists who have gone along on this 100 day journey. Yeah!! I’ve learned a lot!

Experimentation say. Finally got satin finish medium and I think I like it. Not too shiny like gloss and not flat like matte medium. Also using up scrap papers and molded past dots. This will be background for more mosaic layers on top.

Here’s yesterday (88:100) and today’s (89:100) little art pieces. 3”x3” mosaic. The pink/ purple is completed with acrylic paint hand painted paper collage and scrap stained glass. Day 88 is not finished yet but is hand painted papers with strips of recycled gold foil. I’ll also using gloss medium again which I don’t love as it’s too shiny for me. The matte medium is too dull. So like Goldilocks need to buy and try satin medium. I can’t believe there is less than 2 weeks left! 😢😊.

I have been swamped this week with work travel and prepping for an art market that was yesterday (5.9.26). Every spare minute on last minute (if there is such a thing) art making and market prepping (not my specialty). So a very art filled week but not with “100 day project” sadly. So I spent most of today catching up. Attached are 6 small 3” x 3” mosaics made of my more traditional acrylic paint, shells, stone, and scrap stained glass.

This past week I also made 60 ACEO cards (Art Card, Editions, and Originals with my hand made papers). And working on a new style of heart house using both paper collage and stained glass. We’ll see how that turns out but I’m excited to try a new approach.
